Intellectual property and intangible asset valuation
A patent, software platform, brand, and dataset each create value in a different way. We identify the rights being valued and assess the economic use of the asset before developing the valuation.
Patents and therapeutic intellectual property
Depending on the asset and assignment, the analysis may consider development status, commercialization rights, potential markets, costs, and the economics of licensing or ownership.
Software and digital platforms
We evaluate platform capabilities, development stage, use rights, and relevant software economics. When a practice uses technology developed by its MSO, the license can be a distinct contribution within the management arrangement. We distinguish that contribution from administrative work and coordinate the analyses to address overlapping costs.
Data and commercial rights
Data access, brand licenses, and other rights require a defined scope of permitted use. Term, territory, exclusivity, delivery requirements, and the associated services can change the valuation question.
Acquired intangible assets
Transactions may require separate valuation of trade names, client relationships, and other identifiable assets. We coordinate those analyses with the purpose of the allocation and the transaction consideration.
Methods suited to the asset
Relevant evidence may include comparable transactions or licenses, replacement cost, and projected economic benefits. We explain the selected approach and the assumptions that have the greatest effect on the analysis.
